Parade is held to honor Amelia Earhart.

The parade for the former Boston social worker, who had just become the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean, attracts more than 250,000 spectators. It is followed by a reception attended by some 2,000 social workers, most of them women, at the Copley Plaza Hotel. 300,000 spectators. Earhart leaves Boston for New York shortly afterward. She makes a solo flight across the Atlantic in 1932.*
